Erin in a dress worn three ways {Work it}

Erin says: Did you know you can turn a dress into three different outfits? Wear it by itself for one. Add a sweater or a shirt tied at the waist over the top to turn the dress into a skirt for another. Or, as I did here, put a skirt over the top of the dress to turn it into a blouse!

Dress being worn as a top – The Limited

Skirt – White House Black Market

Shoes – Anne Klein

Takeaway: Think about the items you already have in your closet in “outside of the box” ways and you’ll find you have lots of items that go together! Shopping your closet is fun and saves you money.

Amanda in stripes and leggings

Amanda says: This is much more of a weekend look than a workday look, but I love it none the less. I paired jeggings with a tunic to create a comfortable and easy fall outfit!

Scarf: Burlington Coat Factory
Shirt: Old Navy (clearance)
Pants: Nordstroms (clearance)
Boots: online from a few years back

Takeaway: Take a risk by pairing stripes with florals. The combination is fun and unexpected.

Erin N. in black and gray with eye-catching accessories {Work it}

Erin says: I often feel drab when I’m wearing black or gray, and I consciously try to buy colored pieces so I don’t feel boring when I get dressed. This outfit happened on a morning when I was having a total clothing crisis and felt like I had nothing to wear. I just threw it all together in a hurry – but then I actually really liked the result!

Gray pants: The Limited
Black tank: H&M
Cardigan: Old Navy
Pumps: Bandolino
Necklace: Boston Store (a gift!)

Takeaway: Neutral colors don’t have to be boring. A bold necklace and pointy shoes made this outfit a bit more eye-catching and made me feel both professional and cute the day I wore it.

Maxi Dress (Old Navy)
Cardigan (Target)
Shoes (Old Navy - not the best quality, but a JCrew look at a fraction of the price)

Takeaway: This was an outfit I wore recently to travel to a friends’ wedding. I wanted something comfortable and long for the plane, but I was raised to look nice while traveling and this fit both bills. The flyaway cardigan adds color and interest to a long maxi dress, and is easy to take off and put on depending on what your plane cabin’s – or wherever – temperature is.
